What did you think was pretentious, until you tried it and realized it was worth it?
Get a Herman Miller Aeron. They're like $1000-1500 new but every time a company goes out of business they have to sell off all their chairs, so you can get them on craigslist for ~300 and even cheaper from liquidation auctions.

What’s an expensive brand that actually IS worth the money?
At one of my previous jobs, someone was tossing a Herman Miller Aeron. I immediately recognized it and brought it home. The hydraulic cylinder needed to be replaced and it only cost about $40 on Amazon for a replacement kit. I will keep this chair forever.

Bureaustoel, welke hebben jullie?
Een herman miller aeron. Nieuw zijn ze heel duur maar een 2de handse (eventueel refurbished) is net zo goed en past wel binnen je budget.

Sys admins who are still remote.
Herman Miller Aeron. Provided great support when I was almost 400lbs. Still providing great support when I'm down to 220. Bought it in 2020 and still works like new. No issues. Great quality product. It's expensive but worth every penny imo.

Someone at work stole my chair. So I had them arrested.
“The Herman Miller Aeron - it’s a steal at only $1,800!”

CEO's Assistant said it wasn't right I had a nicer chair than he did
I got totally lucky, at work I'm the guy who hauls away the junk machinery and old server racks and other large stuff that's too big to put in the dumpster. I was taking some other scrap when another area manager asked me to get rid of their old chairs since they just bought new. They bought Office

CEO flexes $3K luxury throne at all-hands while HR literally tells me my destroyed spine 'isn't in the budget'.
Look for a business liquidation company. I got a $2,000 Herman Miller Aeron chair for $600 at a liquidation place. If you put it right next to a brand new one, you couldn't tell the difference.

Exactly why I have my own Herman Miller Aeron chair. Protip, find a local place that sells used office furniture and they will have them for $400-500 rather than the $1800-2200 they are new. They are basically indestructible.

Productivity vs. Ergonomics: MacBook's built-in deck is faster for me, but it's destroying my neck and wrists. How do I bridge the gap?
Just put the MacBook on the desk, put a monitor on an arm above it and use the MacBook keyboard and trackpad. This is what I’ve done for 15 years, no back or joint problems in that time. What was giving me back problems before that was a bad chair and desk. Moving to an Herman Miller Aeron chair and

How do you deal with the toll this takes on your body?
I had a Herman Miller Aeron for awhile and had a hunch it was making things worse. Leg pain, back pain. Finally said screw it and tried a Steelcase Gesture and oh my god it was like night and day. Maybe try to switch it up. You have the cash and there is no better investment than in things between y
