When my previous job closed the office and shifted everybody fully remote they let some of us take chairs so I got a free Herman Miller Aeron chair which retails for $2k. It has been life changing for my back.

Aeron office chair by Herman-Miller. I bought mine 12 years ago when I started working from home more, and it's been my full-time WFH chair since March of 2020. It literally saved my back from 10 hours of sitting per day. It's built like a tank, looks great, and is worth every penny.

After sitting 8–10 hrs/day, the chairs that actually hold up are Herman Miller Aeron or Steelcase Leap/Gesture, excellent lumbar, breathable, and still comfortable years later. If budget’s tight, a used/refurb HM or Steelcase is s way better.
