My review for the Aoostar AG03 Thunderbolt 5 eGPU dock.
Agree. This may explain why my GMKtec K11’s USB4 port performs so well with all my eGPU’s. “The AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS features native, dual-port USB4 controller support built directly into the processor.”

Help me pick between these two options for a casual gaming mini PC.
I have a monster SFF PC at home but I like having these little guys around for when I just wanna "chuck it in a backpack and go somewhere." 780m outperforms my steam deck by a noticeable margin and you can connect a USB C monitor with a single cable and play some shit with only that USB-C cable and

Why does the official website say Rog Ally X is not compatible but plenty of users say it works?
I don’t have one to test with. The Xbox version has a USB4 port so it should work. My son was leaning towards a legion go 2 so we may never have one. It does work well on my GMKtec K11, which also has a USB4 port.

Aoostar Maco fan [teardown]
Dang it is ribbon and why on earth you don’t put PTM I got rattling noise on my GMKtec K11 and I used WD40 first time but it started again so second time I put some thick lubricant and sprayed WD40 over it to help it spread now it is pretty silent.

I need help with picking a mini PC under 500
You're about 7 months too late for a low budget. 32GB of dual channel RAM with AMD Radeon 780M graphics will get the gaming experience you're looking for but you'll need to decide on which local AI LLM you're looking for "up front" for the necessary hardware requirements. LLM → Hardware Requirements

My husband is a gamer-would the Geekom A7 max actually cut it?
The largest issue with the 16GB A7 Max is single channel memory which can diminish performance by up to 40% compared to dual channel 32GB. It also lacks additional 2280 Gen4x4 M.2 expansion which could be used for Bazzite OS for Steam from a 2nd drive. Bazzite can also allow EmuDeck for classic cons
