For cheap MiniPCs with a cheap workload, can I really go wrong?
Most/all of their cases are plastic but I don’t see that as much of an issue as long as they’re well ventilated with enough space around the components for airflow. If you’re using a gaming PC with Ubuntu Server you have a lot of capability going unused unless you’re really loading it with services.

How much redundancy do you need (how many drives)? A lot of mini PCs have two drive slots which gives you enough for one boot drive and one storage pool, unless you do something like Debian or Ubuntu Server.
