Current highest spec router that supports OpenWRT H/W NAT offloading?
BPI-R4 (MT7988), most powerful but not recommended for Wi-Fi due to Wi-Fi NIC issues. GL.iNET Flint 2 (MT7986), currently best supported device for Wi-Fi. BPI-R3 (MT7986), like Flint 2 but with SFP. Flint 2's Wi-Fi will be better though as it is not a dev board. Flint 3 (Qualcomm IPQ 53xx), for Wi-F

Flint 2. I still a good option today?
Keep in mind that GL.iNet doesn't run 'vanilla' OpenWrt; it's a proprietary fork. If you want a pure native experience, MediaTek-based devices (like the Flint 2 (AX), beryl AX) are usually the better bet for driver compatibility. While the newer Wi-Fi 7 models like the Flint 3/3e/4 (soon) have Qualc

Should I return Flint 3, and if so what alternative?
No clue what you mean by “there is no reason for a Flint 2”. It’s one of the best performing GL.iNet routers out there.

GL.iNet Flint 3 or Raspberry Pi 5 (with 2x2.5G Ethernet HAT)?
Since you’re on r/openwrt, I assume you want to run OpenWrt. Just a heads-up: the Flint 3 doesn’t use OpenWrt, it runs a fork on a proprietary Qualcomm SoC and Glinet software. It’s unlikely to ever support native OpenWrt unless Qualcomm releases documentation and an SDK for OpenWrt developers. If y

Flint 2 vs flint 3 if both can be bought for same price
GL iNet uses a modified version of OpenWRT (open source operating system) for their routers. The one in the Flint 3 is a more modified version due to their choice of a Qualcomm chip processor over their traditional choice of a MediaTek processor. Qualcomm chips by their closed-source nature isn't we

What router should I get?
1000% the GL-iNet Flint 3. The software on most consumer routers makes me want to throw things, they are so locked down and useless. GL-inet uses openwrt with a nice skin on top of it. So, so, sooooo many features. Absolutely any weird network setup you want to do, the Flint 3 can do it. And it supp

WiFi version 7 pricing what is going on?
GL.iNet Flint 3 is a fantastic wifi 7 router at $200. Just bought one, very happy with it. The range is huge and the firmware / software on it is feature rich, includes Adguard Home, just toggle the switch. None of those annoying subscriptions, just a great router.

Router Replacement
How fast is your Internet plan? How many square feet/meters is your apartment? Is your current router providing good WiFi coverage? What do you do on the network? Do you have a NAS or a home media server? How many, if any, clients (computers/consoles/TVs) do you (or can you) connect via Ethernet cab

Which would you choose? I'm so lost. Flint 3 vs Flint 2
Actually, I am a GL.iNet official employee. Flint 2 has 4x 1G LAN ports. Flint 3 has 4x 2.5G LAN ports. Next time check out our product pages before providing misinformation :) We have many customers achieving faster speeds on their Flint 3 compared to their Flint 2 due to WiFi 7. It is not a moot p
