My basement studio
Those 8030 Genelecs are probably 10 years old believe it or not, hard to see but I have the 7050 sub behind the minimoog. I mainly use them when I am designing sounds on the modular system but sometimes I reference on them. Even a 10 year old speaker still handles business

iLoud MTM MK2 vs Genelec 8010 — which for a small untreated room?
Genelec is a whole other League. Since both kinda need a subwoofer for a decent bottom end ( the 8010 will love the 7050, my 8030c does!) the choice is even simpler. Dont get me wrong, iLoud is a nice way of monitoring, it has some low even it has a very small footprint.

complete newbie
Genelec cant go wrong, happy 8030c user here ( bought last year, €550/pc ). In my opinion the 'a' is a good unit, newer models are a bit updated ( more power, auto off option i believe and some other settings ) but i really recommend to ad a subwoofer. I use the 7050c, the 5.1 subwoofer and i really

VSX vs. high-end open backs (max 1000 euro): How do you build a reliable reference in a terrible room?
thing is, i did buy the vsx and i thought they worked, but then i bought my genelec 8030+7050 sub, and… there’s no comparison even in my medium treated room. So when I use headphones I really prefer my HD650, I mostly use them and now and then go back to my ATH m50x for the crispiness when recording

Upgrade advice: What should I replace my Magnat Multi Monitor 220 with?
Sure, active studio monitors like the Genelec 8030C (ASR review) are very nice. But you do need a preamplifier to control the volume and select sources (e.g. between your phono preamplifier and DAC for your TV). For example you would need thus preamplifier and one these DAC options: Fosi Audio P4 (A

Sold my Event Opals - what now?
I'm more into the ATC sound myself, personally. I found 8030 to not have good driver integration, and flabbed out too easily when pushed. I have experience with those and with the older 10xx models. The Ones are actually coaxial three ways. The tweeter is mounted at the center of the mid driver, and

Anyone here using Genelec 8010 as home dj monitors? are they good or too small?
Depending on your room and how loud you are able to play. I am guessing that’s why you are choosing 8010 or for travelling. The whole range is perfect for any kind of near field including as DJ monitors they are extremely robust and were made for location playback. They also sound great in lots of d

I'm Done (For Real)
Nice. I also have a pair of 8030c, really really happy. I got the Genelec 7040A sub, and it's more than plenty even for some Sunn O))) at ear shattering volume near field. I would suggest getting that plus a MiniDSP Flex(4 channel, so you can DSP each channel independently) rather than a 7050.
