electrolyte vs carb mix.
Compare a bottle of "endurance formula" gatorade with the regular gatorade. The challenge with the full sugar stuff is you can't drink enough of it to replace water without getting a ton of sugar, which isn't helpful in most sports. The salty low sugar stuff helps with that. But if you're riding 400

3:30 Achievable?
The heart rate in the later miles concerns for a 3:30 goal, but I suspect doing that distance on only 60g of carbs probably played a role. I think you’re pretty behind in the fueling strategy and would start practicing that ASAP. Even on easy runs I’d take a gel before hand just to make sure your st

First long "race", need preparation advice
Gatorade powder is great for shorter rides and I use it as well, but has about half the sodium and carbs that ultra endurance athletes need. The standard powder only contains fructose, no maltodextrin. Adding extra to compensate can cause stomach issues. Gatorade does make an endurance formula that'

Super high carb training for racing under an hour?
On a 4 hour ski I would def be doing about 60g per hour. Gatorade endurance formula is quite easy on the gut for me. On a short race I wouldnt take anything, up to 45 minutes. Unless its really easy and convenient.

First half-marathon, beginner runner - any words of advice/encouragement?
You sound like you’re very similar to me. Except I’ve been running for four years. But I run between a 12 and 13 minute mile pace. I’m just getting to a point where I can complete a whole half a marathon without walking. I always felt very silly carrying and hydration vest and gels, but in my opinio

No-gel fueling that is not solid food: let’s all share our experiences
I'm cheap but also lazy. I'm also a slow runner so I would usually need more gels on a run than you fast folks. I bought Gatorade Endurance Formula Powder and then mixed Mix: 3:2, + pectin (1/2 tsp/300g) where it is 300 grams powder and 200 grams water. Another reason I picked this is because it is

Gatorade as nutrition practice
Fueling with carb drink mix is absolutely an option, but I wouldn’t use straight Gatorade powder, at least not the mass-market version of Gatorade. That stuff is mostly table sugar, snd will be hard to digest at the level of carbohydrate intake you should be aiming for. The “endurance” formula Gator

Cheap water bottles and reliable cages?
Elite Jet bottles are my favorite. Reasonable price, good capacity, lightweight, & super fast for tanking down 1/4 - 1/2 the bottle in a few seconds. For century rides, I go w/ two of the 950ml bottles filled w/ Gatorade Endurance formula (watermelon flavor is the best IMO).

can you share your fueling plan on long rides?
I do a bottle per hour of Gatorade endurance with 3 scoops (2servings 600gsodium 45 carbs and 26g sugar) on top of that use a mix of dried mango, gummy clusters, and assortment of other candies that sit well. Better than GUs for me. And the ever best mid ride coffee for the back stretch. I have a mi

refueling suggestions?
I use Gatorade powder. It’s cheap, is already the correct fructose to glucose ratio, easy to drink, has electrolytes, has less citric acid than lemonade powder, & works as well for me as the ridiculously expensive boutique hydration/fueling powders. If you can tolerate a sports drink, then this is a
