Never owned an espresso machine before. Got this as a gift. Am I in over my head?

Bianca is much easier to use than a Gaggia Classic Pro. Start by reading the instruction manual. That will tell you what the knobs and buttons do. Then look at some YouTube videos on how to dial in espresso. The EAF guide is also a great resource for learning how: https://espressoaf.com/guides/begin

Help me step away from the Ninja Luxe Cafe Pro [€1000]

1000€ +20% margin gets you - assming you are in EU: Turin Legato V2( MiiCoffe apex/AvX DB). Brew boiler for coffee and separate steam thermoblock, opv adjustment, PID + rest for a grinder and accesories; Base Bambino and competent grinder (54mm advantage and full thermoblock); Sage Dual Boiler on sa

What espresso setup would be best for us? [~$750 budget]

Considering you're under $750 and need both a grinder and an espresso maker — a breville bambino, a grinder in the $200-$300 range, and then the remainder of the budget on accessories/cleaning supplies/water treatment would probably be the way to go. Things like a gaggia classic pro might be better

Experiment with Condensed Milk

I initially bought this back when I was using a Gaggia Classic Pro to save some headroom. As you know, the GCP has notoriously low clearance between the portafilter and the drip tray. To win some extra millimeters, I picked up this extension bracket, adjusted it to sit just above the tray, and sudde

Without any bias, with all facts considered, do boiler espresso machines produce better coffee than thermoblock machines?

A 50ml boiler for 40ml shots will do that... GCP was good 15 years ago when there was $400 Gaggia or the much more expensive 4-figure E61 group option. Now we've got loads of good machines to choose from.

Inversely, look at the Gaggia classic pro. Not relatively expensive, but still a lot of money for a machine that you still need to do a bunch of little tricks or a rather costly mod to make sure your water temperature is adequate.

Is this a fair price? Should I pull the trigger and buy? (Likely Cross posting) It’s already modded and is a full set up; first proper espresso machine jitters😅

Agreed, price is high for the PCB/screen version he has installed. No option for updates. He could buy a used GCP on FB for $300 and gaggia mate kit and still have $300 for whatever he wants.

I spent months chasing sour and bitter shots and it turned out to be headspace —> Dose by volume!! [Lelit Elizabeth/Timemore 078s]

There is a related question that I don't understand. The most common beginner setup is a Gaggia Classic Pro, and most beginner guides on internet call for a 18g dose. People getting into espresso literally all get the same advice: a) buy a GCP, b) dose 18g. But the stock unpressurized double-shot ba

Tired of the Gaggia Classic

Do what I did. Realize the GCP is actually a turd of a machine and get something with a real boiler that can control it’s heat at the very least. I bought an ACS minima and could not be happier. My heat is always what I set it at, pressure always exactly what I ask, steam is legit AF. And the best p
