some scratches are great, it prevents you from babying the camera :D. only thing that is important is if the sensor is kept clean and potential dents. i have an xt10 with a crack in the bottom and has been operating fine for 3 years (might just be luck)

Just use your XS10. There is nothing you can get for super cheap that is worth using, so why spend an extra few hundred for an inferior camera that you won't use often. Upgrading a 10 yr old body is totally valid. And not GAS in my opinion. If you have the means, I say do it. Especially since you already have lenses/batteries and all you really need are the camera body and some new sd cards. The new sensors are really great. You’d also be expanding the film sim cap

Yeah, they dropped the ball big time. An XT10 will come out one of these days and that will probably be the end of the gap they need to fill technologically speaking (which is huge).
