European brands that disappointed you?

Fjällräven. My old Kånken survived university and years of travel. The replacement I bought last year is already falling apart.

Backpacks/bags with hypermobility

Best thing I ever got was a Fjällräven Kånken. You don't have to get this exact brand, but a rigid, solid backpack where the fit is tight and allows the pack to sit firmly against your back is a must; looking at this brand will give you an idea of what to look for. I do highly recommend their backpa

What are your country’s “buy for life” products?

My dad's friend bought one of the first editions of a Fjällräven Kånken when they where first released in the 70s. It's still as good as new!

Is owning a Deuter bag in Germany a mandatory requirement for citizenship?

Could also be a Fjällräven Kanken, see them around a lot as well. Pretty expensive for a piece of woven plastic.

Milyen örök életű tárgyaitok vannak?

Fjällräven kanken hátizsák, és a Helly Hansen télikabátom - mindkettőt kb 10 éve vettem és tökéletes állapotban vannak.

How long do oleada bags last? Is it worth it?

I wouldn’t take a nice Oleada bag to those things you do — it’s going to get easily damaged, unless if you’re a fan of that dirty and dinged-up pistachio green look. When I do trips like how you describe it, I use my years-old and always-reliable Fjällräven Kånken. That waxed canvas is almost imposs

Is this model in this color still around?

I’ve been a fan of Fjällräven stuff for many years and I don’t remember ever seeing a discontinued color of Kånken come back. The only exception is on Fjällräven’s Preloved marketplace; I read somewhere that a lot of the bags sold directly by Fjällräven are good as new and I’ve seen some old colors

European brands for Daily/office backpacks

If you can find a Fjällräven Kånken on sale, that might be an option. Suggested retail price is out of your budget, but you might find it on sale for 70€ depending on where you are located. And the quality is good

Warum haben alle Studenten den selben Rucksack?

Hä? Fjällräven, zumindest den Kånken, gibt's auch mit Baumwolltanteil. Im Gegenteil zu diesem 100%igen Kunststofferzeugnis hier.

What is something that has surprised you that it stood the test of time?

My Fjällräven Kånken backpack. Had it for over a decade and it’s been everywhere with me: trips, uni, moving cities. Still looks fine. Genuinely did not expect a bag to be one of the most reliable things in my life but that’s where we are.
