Farewell Charge 5

Im 11 years a fitbit user. Fourth Charge. They wear out, I buy a new one because there is always a deal. I charge it for 10 minutes while in the shower and it never dies. I do miss the web page , but other than that it is a great piece of tech

Is Fitbit still going away?

No, it is owned by Google now. No more fitbit website, it a Google website instead. They keep tweaking the app, but it seems their customer service is lacking?... I have quickly searched and found answers for troubleshooting different things. Lots of people still using their fitbits are are happy wi

What’s a brand you’ll never trust again and why?

I've had my Garmin Instinct 2 for about a year now. It's almost comical how much more data I get from my swims compared to the Fitbit Charge 5 I had. Fitbit basically had like duration and extrapolated number of laps from motion. That was it. It was also wrong on even that one metric more often than

Does anyone still love their fitbit?

I just replaced my Fitbit Charge 5 with a Charge 6. It's a data thing too for me. Ten years worth of step data and earned badges give me a strange sense of comfort. The product reliability was fine too. I feel like I did everything I could do to stay healthy. 🤞

Well, I'm done with fitbit. Was great while it lasted.

I don't trust anything to be waterproof. The material that makes things waterproof tends to degrade over time. I don't think this is a Fitbit only problem. Aside from the occasional spurt of rain, I've managed to keep my Charge 5 dry since I bought it three years ago and haven't had a single issue.

Charge 5 replacement

When my Charge 5 died the exchange rate was bad. So I bought a Xiaomi Band 9, for 1/5th the price of the Charge 6. I was with Fitbit for 12 years and I'm glad I tried something else. My Fitbit's usually lasted 3 years / 3 typhoon seasons. So for the price difference I figured even if it only lasted

Should I be eating the calories burned from walking?

I've used a Fitbit charge 5 that just died after 3 years. That specific model was notorious for faults, but for $100 to $160 you can get a low-end Fitbit charge 6/inspire3 or Garmin vivosmart 5 that'll work great. GarmIn's are less flashy but more reliable based on reviews. They are not as good for

Pixel Watch 2 HR Monitor Has Stopped Working

I gave up trying to make it work consistently and just ended up buying a Garmin. Google/Fitbit have screwed me over enough with devices that have just stopped functioning (RIP to my Charge 5), and the monthly cost to get the most out of my smart watches.

Any new watches coming ?

My charge 5 is on its last legs, but when I saw that charge 6 was the last release, and that was a couple years ago, I was concerned that they were basically phasing out the Fitbit watches. With Google taking over, I was expecting that they were going to phase out the Fitbit watches and force you ov
