Is the Niche Zero still worth it in 2026?
probably the price difference, though i have df83v and it's the best piece of tech i own, the upgrade from fellow opus (1st gen) was astronomical. I don't think df64 would be anywhere near as different from it as fellow opus was, after a certain point the increase in price starts to give you diminis

Fellow Espresso Series 1 - first impressions
Agree. Fellow products look great on my countertop. But the Opus grinder clogged terribly on espresso grinds, and their customer service was equally terrible. The electric kettle is good enough for my kids and me, but it would be nice to have more ability to fine-tune the temps. And so on. I was ini

[MOD] The Daily Question Thread
I think you've painted the scenario correctly. Manual will do you better on weekdays, but will be inconvenient on weekends. How big is a family-sized pot of coffee? 10 (5-oz) "cups", 90 gm coffee? A good quality, fast hand grinder will need 3 minutes, plus time spent refilling. You may also be conce

Coffee machine recommendations
The grinder is everything. I think between fresh beans and grinder, that's 95% of the quality of the cup. The Fellow Opus 2 just came out, so there won't be a lot of experience with that yet. The Opus 1 (which I had) ground well, but retention was horrific. Apparently the 2 was a clean sheet re-desi

Grinder to pair with V2
i used the manual j-ultra which was awesome, and df84v which might be a bit of an overkill. dont buy something that isnt espresso focused, and dont cheap out too much (fellow opus or df54 might suck too hard) If you still need inspiration or confidence look here: https://www.reddit.com/r/espresso/s/

Varia VS4 + Sage / Breville Bambino plus - needing a 54mm dosing cup
Thanks. I usually have medium roast beans. I’ll give those settings a try. Was having issues with my fellow opus lately getting things dialed in, so I am hoping the varia will help. Otherwise something is wrong with my bambino.

Buying First Espresso Machine [$1000]
Fellow grinders don't fare that well with espresso. The Opus Gen 1, for the price, really isn't that great and can struggle with retention or consistency. As for the Ode, it's a really good grinder, but the dial just isn't suited for espresso. Even with SSP burrs, you won't be able to dial in very w

Lagom Family vs Varia VS3? [$500]
A counterpoint: I have two VS3 gen 2s, one at work and one at home, and I think they are great grinders. With the machine at home I typically make 1 French press (60-ish grams of beans) and a couple of espresso drinks per day, and the machine at work makes 3-5 espresso drinks per work day. My wife a

Is the opus that bad? [under $200]
The Shardor 64mm wins by a landslide and I have both. The Fellow Opus is visually appealing. The magnetic cup is fun. The grinds are great for espresso and drip. I don't even mind the precision adjustments using the inner ring. However, unless you want to play the Bongo drums multiple times a day th
