Espresso Series 1 owners, be aware that volumetric mode is turned on by default…
Thank you for this post. I'm a Fellow fan-boy. Been buying there stuff since day 1. My wife and I got the Series 1 - our first espresso machine. We love espresso and a good latte, but never had a machine at home. I feel like we are the target audience for a machine like this. Out of the box volume s

Red Fellow One Espresso Machine [$1599]
Love mine, but I did get the extended warranty (new product, not sure how it will hold up). Some small(ish) known issues though... Volumetric mode is set badly out of the box and needs adjustment if you want to use it (I don't, so it's just off anyway), there's a fair amount of water waste at startu

I don’t think Fellow is getting the movement on Espresso Series 1 that they expected
Anecdotal data point. I would have sold my Lelit Bianca and bought the Espresso Series 1 asap if my Aiden experience wasn’t as bad. Such a fragile design is already unacceptable for a $350 machine and I currently don’t trust Fellow with a $1000+ machine.

First Machine [$600-2000]
Depending on your wife’s preferences, there may be a disconnect between you two. I assume she wants a machine that can easily produce an espresso shot. As you upgrade to a better machine with features like flow control and PID, the ceiling for espresso increases, but floor is lower. Therefore, unles

$400 Gaggia CP vs $900 Fellow S1 [$1000 budget]
I have had the Fellow ES1 for over a month now. Zero issues. I have specific profiles for different beans which I really like. I generally buy from local roasters (I live in NYC so I guess I have that advantage) and I can tell you my espressos come out just as good as those from the coffee shops. If

“Lemme just dial these in real quick”
Depends. Are you a machine nerd? It needs initial calibration when you get it. If you don’t do that, you’re toast already. After that, the machine is a chameleon - it can mimic most other machines on the market - pre-infusion, ramp up, ramp down, custom temp and pressure and much more. You can save

What's going on with Drops? Getting iffy.
I had ZERO luck with Gitare AB. Complete waste. It was the most frustrating coffee I have ever tried to dial in. The ES1 profile spit out the same yield no matter what grind I used, and I’ve calibrated my volumetric settings according to fellows recommendations. I think if fellow is going to recomme

ES1 if it came in all White
I wish they would have offered a white version. Everything else I have from fellow is white but my ES1 is black…if I knew how to do this I would. Nice job 👍🏻

Series 1 Owners - Are Profiles the same concept as on the Aiden?
I’d definitely be interested in this! The idea of a database of crowdsourced ES1 shot profiles outside of what Fellow provides is exciting! Just hope that the update to the app is pushed out soon…

La Marzocco linea micra vs decent espresso vs wait for fellow espresso series 1 [$4500]
Fellow Series 1 could be a great value for the money, or it could be a total bust. AFAIK, no independent reviewer has used it outside of a demo that was carefully orchestrated by Fellow. But if you believe in the adage "you get what you pay for", FS1 is highly unlikely to perform in the same league
