Interview with nicholasnumbers
I want to ask a tough question that I think would give Nick the opportunity to really address public perception/community concerns: Fellow says that the ES1 went through a rigorous testing process before release, and by all accounts, they did do a testing process. In fact, there was the delay in shi

Continue to wait for fellow espresso series one, or move on to something else? [$3,500]
I preordered the ES1, and ended up cancelling it. Bought a Profitec Move instead. I cancelled because I read a thread on r/Fellowproducts about the Aiden app and software updates. In a nutshell, the Aiden coffee makers get bricked by issues with software updates, and the app is finicky as hell. If t

Continue to wait for fellow espresso series one, or move on to something else? [$3,500]
Reliability of Series 1 is our number 1 priority. The reason for the shift in mass production was so that we didn't need to make the machine get a performance hit to meet our goals. We accelerate life test everything to meet a MINIMUM 5 year bar (this doesn't mean the product breaks after 5 years, i

Exploring is Expensive, Exhausting and Extraordinary.
One major disappointment for ES1 is that the Fellow Drops offer no guidance on what grind setting to use for its own Opus 2 grinder. My expectation was that I buy the drop and its already dialed in with exactly the grind and brew settings so I dont waste beans. But every recipe just says "Start in t

Anyone know if Fellow plans to improve ES1 volumetric dosing?
Fellow has a video about adjusting volumetric settings on their introductory videos page for the ES1: https://fellowproducts.com/pages/espresso-series-1-gear-guide?view=gg-series1 I was somewhat surprised that they didn’t mention the option to turn off volumetric dosing while dialing in the machine.

Espresso Series 1 Firmware Update 2.3.15
This. Plus general scheduler to turn on / off. Heck the fellow kettle has this basic scheduler function. Surprised the es1 didn’t out of the box.

$400 Gaggia CP vs $900 Fellow S1 [$1000 budget]
I have had the Fellow ES1 for over a month now. Zero issues. I have specific profiles for different beans which I really like. I generally buy from local roasters (I live in NYC so I guess I have that advantage) and I can tell you my espressos come out just as good as those from the coffee shops. If

Series 1 Owners - Are Profiles the same concept as on the Aiden?
I’d definitely be interested in this! The idea of a database of crowdsourced ES1 shot profiles outside of what Fellow provides is exciting! Just hope that the update to the app is pushed out soon…

Red Fellow One Espresso Machine [$1599]
Personally, I would never buy a v1 product from a company that has no established history making that product. Fellow also has a sub-par reputation when it comes to build and software reliability. I don’t think the ES1 is user serviceable either, which would be a big reason for not getting it. Just

To Gaggimate or not to Gaggimate? Is there something between a Gaggimate and a Decent that offers compromise? [$2000]
The Gaggimate is absolutely fantastic. The profiling UI is vastly superior to the Meticulous or even the new Fellow Espresso Series 1. Also, the newest GCP's (2026 manufacturing date and later only) are made with lead free brass due to upcoming changes in European law which they are getting prepared
