I had read all the buzz about this WDT thing and so I bought one online. It was really nice but had quite large wires. My pours went from "ok" to garbage. I (boldly?) posted a diatribe of how crappy this WDT thing was and got raked over the coals. Hmmm... apparently I was "holding it wrong" or somet

The Breville machines are only worth it for the Bambino, and questionably the Barista Express. If you get into espresso, the grinder included on the Barista Express will eventually serve as a brick wall in your espresso journey. I used to have one, and then upgraded to a Profitec Pro 500 and a Eurek

...I don’t care about speed; I just want top-notch quality. IMO the only reason to choose a hand grinder is to get the price down. Otherwise, day by day, month by month, year by year, you'll rue the day you made that choice over "pushing a button". My favourite grinders today are the Turin line up, alt

On our espresso journey, we started with Keurig and Nespresso. We thought we really liked coffee so we bought the (very expensive) Breville Oracle, all in one machine - especially so my wife could use its automated features, as she wanted "a coffee, not a project". I really like the idea of the mach

I had an Eureka Mignon Silenzio for 4 years. It's built like a truck and gave good service. I put a Single Doser kit on it after the 1st year. Recently I decided to upgrade my grinder, and decided to keep to a Single Doser. However, I wanted to skip over the 64mm burr sized grinders in order to get

Re Grinder: decide first if you want to Single Dose or use a Hopper instead. This choice divides grinders into two categories. People like hopper style because it's the easiest, with the least amount of fuss. People like Single Dosers because it allows them to keep their (expensive) beans away from

Don't do it. It doesn't work well and it's a PITA. My wife didn't care re grinder for her pour-overs so she got my old Eureka Mignon Silenzio (espresso) grinder when I bought new. I put the hopper back on and set up her timer. She loves it and said it's quite an improvement over the cheap-ass grinde

I'll answer the short question first: the grinder. I loved my Eureka Mignon Silenzio, but it was a hopper style grinder. I learned quickly that what I like is fresh beans. A hopper would not do. So I got a Single Doser kit off of Etsy for it. That was great, but... The workflow wasn't the best. I st

Don't cheap out on the grinder. You can't get decent shots of your grinder is shit. I had similar budget for my first coffee set up and I got a Sage/Breville Bambino (not the plus) and a Eureka Mignon Silenzio. I'm very satisfied with them!
