What’s the go-to printer?
I'm a fan of the tilting vat printers since they apply less peeling force to the film and they're generally faster. (Prusa, Elegoo Mars 5 Ultra, Saturn 4 Ultra.) They're more forgiving on supports, which are a huge learning curve coming from FDM to resin. The Saturn has two variants, 12k and 16k. Th

Can't Decide Ultra 16K or M7
Also in Aridzona. I learned about resin printers from a friend whose printer did not have a tilting-vat. My first resin printer was a tilting-vat printer. And I don't regret that for a moment. Now I have two, a M5U and a S4U12k. Each has printed hundreds of parts, possibly more than a thousand in to

First resin printer
I started with an original Mars and fairly recently upgraded to the M5U. It died in 2 weeks (wouldn't turn on) and I was able to exchange it at the retailer I got it from. I've been using Elegoo ABS-like 3.0 8k resin and the prints have been very good. The Satellite software is a mixed bag. It's eas

How to get off build plate in one piece
Have you tried using Elegoo Satellite? It's the recommended software for the M5U anyway. The auto supports it generates are very good and the rafts are a solid piece with relief holes. Very easy to remove from the build plate in one piece, in fact I've never not been able to. I'm also using an M5U.

Only first few layers prints - Mars 5 Ultra
Holy moly - I think you are right. Tldr: UV tools dont play well with M5U Tilt vat and Elegoo SatelLite slicers. I've tested the default rook and non-uv tools cones of calibration dry prints > the Z Axis retracts properly then returns. Now with the exact file processed with uv tools > no Z axis lift

Been thinking about getting the Mars5
I've got the Mars 5 Ultra and I'm loving it. The build plate is a little small, but it's perfectly workable. You can print a fair amount of 28mm minis on a single plate, and fit some quite big stuff on there too. And for truly huge models they mostly come in parts anyway. The quality is amazing. Abs

Options for a larger printer
Okay, that looks to be a sample defect on the flatness of the build plate. Spare build plates can be purchased from Elegoo directly. Not all S4U owners have the experience of that reviewer. If I bought an S4U (and I'm seriously considering adding one to augment my M5U) and I got an unflat build plat

Need help deciding on a printer
I have two build plates for my Saturn, the one that came with the printer and the one I purchased to have a spare. The original had poor flatness with a dished center, so that when any three of the four corners touched down, the center remained above the film. The spare arrived practically flat. I h
