Deuter Speedlite Pro 23 SL vs. Osprey Sirrus 24?
Well, I use the Deuter Speed Lite Pro 30L and like it a lot. I went from a much more structured Deuter backpack to the lighter Speed Lite as I wanted to reduce carrying weight, and also wondered if the much thinner hip straps would be up to it. I used it on two caminos last year and found it very co

day pack with exceptional hip belt?
Any of the Osprey or Gregory or Deuter packs with an internal frame in the 28-ish L size should be great at transferring weight to your hips. Go to an outfitter and try some on with weight to see what fits your body best. If a full internal frame is too bulky or rigid for you, look into the Deuter s

Beginner Advice Requested: Budget Backpacks
Take a look at the Deuter Speed Lite Pro 25L pack. Perfect for long day hikes. I have one and it's the best day pack I've ever owned. Light, comfortable, extremely durable, nice design, plenty of pockets, and $130.

Bag Finder Megathread - 27 October 2025

Deuter Ascender, Speedlite pro for larger volume, Millet Mixt 15/18, etc. I am pretty sure most big brands that make hiking backpacks have models for running. They all are ultralight and weigh slightly more than refraction (300-400

Is this pack overkill?
congrats, you are now an ultralight hiker, please saw off your toothbrush. honestly, I like the backpack and I like the looks of it. Price is also adequate for US made DCF Packs. Are the straps too wide for your? Also, consider upgrading it with a hip belt. The company might help you with it, otherw

Gear reccomendations
Based on my own experience, I'd recommend the Marmot minimalist pertex jacket. You can get it from REI and probably other vendors in the $140 range. If you want to go cheaper, you can drop down to the lighter PreCip Eco Rain Jacket for less than $100. Both are properly seam taped but use slightly di
