Yeah XPS never again. I have got one in 2017 XPS 15 battery went bust 3 years later with Dell stopped producing the battery so the only replacement was with Chinese cheap knock offs. Buy a nice Thinkpad, that will last, battery takes 30 minutes to change and plenty of spare parts around.

I have an M1 air. And an M5 iPad Pro. Almost the same as you. I don’t see a reason to upgrade the M1 air just yet. Apple Silicon is hard to beat. Cuz on my battle station I run a Dell XPS with an i7, a Chromebook with a Ryzen 3 7000 and the M1 Air. I do similar things with all of them. And different

It is not so much an issue now, but there was a time when driver compatibility was an issue on Linux. Nah m8, it’s still pretty bad. A Brazilian kid was reverse engineering the thinkpad sound chip on the Fedora discord because apparently Lenovo somehow messed up the kernel patches and the sound was

The problem is that even the higher end laptops tend to be terribly made. I have gone through multiple Dell XPS laptops where the screen attachment hinge has delaminated from the body. Same problem across several generations of relatively high end machine because they cheaped out on the construction

What swung me to a Macbook Pro was that I had 3 or 4 machines bookmarked to be the replacement for my Dell XPS, once I had the money available... by the time I did have the money available they were all £400+ more expensive. I've just looked at one and it's nearly £700 more expensive now.

I have a 2021 MacBook Pro M1 Pro that I edit most of my projects on and it rips compared to my 2022 Dell XPS that I customized for video editing. In my experience, Macs truly are better than Windows PCs for video purposes. If you're serious about this pathway, I'd get yourself a used MacBook Pro wit

I feel this so hard. Just started as new head of IT at an SMB, and am replacing our existing mixed fleet of HP and Dell with ThinkPads. Had a new P16s4 AMD arrive with artefacting out of the box, Lenovo cross-shipped me a new one within a week of my request. Send the old one back, no dramas. Had an

Which generation did you have? Am pretty sure the XPS 9530 is soldered for the wireless card; I don't see it on the list of removable parts ( https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/xps-15-9530-laptop/xps-15-9530-service-manual/removing-and-installing-components?guid=guid-7fbb11d7-9820-47bb-afaa-
