Yeah XPS never again. I have got one in 2017 XPS 15 battery went bust 3 years later with Dell stopped producing the battery so the only replacement was with Chinese cheap knock offs. Buy a nice Thinkpad, that will last, battery takes 30 minutes to change and plenty of spare parts around.

I have an M1 air. And an M5 iPad Pro. Almost the same as you. I don’t see a reason to upgrade the M1 air just yet. Apple Silicon is hard to beat. Cuz on my battle station I run a Dell XPS with an i7, a Chromebook with a Ryzen 3 7000 and the M1 Air. I do similar things with all of them. And different

It is not so much an issue now, but there was a time when driver compatibility was an issue on Linux. Nah m8, it’s still pretty bad. A Brazilian kid was reverse engineering the thinkpad sound chip on the Fedora discord because apparently Lenovo somehow messed up the kernel patches and the sound was

Same problem across several generations of relatively high end machine because they cheaped out on the construction

Its expensive but even the prebuilt 385h with 32gb of ram andd 1tb ssd is competitive with like the dell xps 14 which is 100 dollars more (and has an oled over ips) sadly i bought a macbook pro 16 m5 pro to replace my 7840u framework 13 so im skipping this

What swung me to a Macbook Pro was that I had 3 or 4 machines bookmarked to be the replacement for my Dell XPS, once I had the money available... by the time I did have the money available they were all £400+ more expensive. I've just looked at one and it's nearly £700 more expensive now.

Ahh I'm a Dell XPS guy. Nice and quiet.... ....provided you open it up and blow the dust out every six months or so.
