Don't even consider the RP just get the R8. The R8 is an absolutely solid camera that if it is overkill should last you decade whereas Facebook Marketplace is full of people trying to dump their RPs and they just sit there. It would make more sense to upgrade your old Canon RP (6yr old consumer spec) to a newer/better Canon body with quicker AF rather than switch to a whole new system of lenses, unless you have other reasons to switch beyond wanting quicker AF.
