Tomorrow is the big day
Hi everyone, I'm French, I've been living in Mexico for almost 12 years and tomorrow I'm starting the great adventure of photography because I'm going to receive my Canon EOS R50. I know it's not the best performing camera, but from what I've read, this camera is perfect for upgrading from phone pho

Is this a good camera to start out with?
At that price buy this: R50 kit. Modern, lighter, etc... you'll be much happier:https://www.usa.canon.com/shop/p/refurbished-eos-r50-rf-s18-45mm-f4-5-6-3-is-stm-lens-kit?color=Black&type=Refurbished

Last camera I owned was bought used in 2011. What's the current camera market look like?
You won't get all of new, $500, Canon/Nikon, and selfie screen with any camera I'd recommend. You can get a Canon R100 bundle from Amazon for $499 with a kit lens with no flip screen, but if you already like Nikon, for another few hundred you can get a Z30 kit which does have a flip screen, or an R5

More money on a camera, or on a lens?
Hello! Welcome to the hobby!) First of all be careful when choosing: 60D is a DSLR but RF lenses are for the mirrorless cameras so RF 100-400 won’t work with 60D. 60D has an EF-mount which also has 100-400 lenses. In terms of investment it is better to invest into lenses and skills. If you want go w

First couple of trials
I bought a canon eos R50 + laowa 100mm f/2.8 2x ultra-macro lens as a complete beginner in macro photography 2 months ago. Sadly I’m still waiting on my adapter to put my flash on but still got some nice results (in my opinion) 🙂

Some Before and after photos to show how important shelter photography is!
Please don't ever apologize for asking questions, that's how we grow! 💪 I had basically no photography skills before starting this. I had an interest in it as a teenager and tried to take artsy photos but that's all. I also had extremely limited knowledge of Photoshop from like 2001 lol The equipmen

What a little tlc can do
They are low content wolfdogs, this boy turned out to have 40.8% wolf per his dna test, he was listed as a Siberian Husky in the shelter. Dakota my black and tan girl was a 12 week old rehome, the owner was pregnant and didn’t know she was going to be a large breed dog. I was told she was a husky/ma

I’m considering buying a camera for my mom for Christmas — thoughts?
Lose the 24-50 mm lens. It's meant to be used on a Full frame camera and even there it's not great. If you want a standard zoom for the r50, look at the 18-45mm lens, or even better the canon 18-150mm or sigma 18-50 f2.8. With the sigma you could even skip the 16mm prime. Otherwise it looks like a g

Camera or phone?
A different phone won't bring you any massive improvements. They're all limited by their small sensors. An interchangeable lens camera WILL bring you big improvements. See e.g. Canon R50, R10 and Sony A6100/A6400. But with dedicated cameras you need to learn photography to really benefit from them.

Fortunate first lunar image
First time doing lunar photography as an excited 35 year old guy with his first decent camera. Felt like I got very lucky with this shot! Shot with canon r50 and rf 100-400mm, edited in LR. Any and all suggestions or feedback is very welcome!
