Canon’s new FX3 competitor…the R50C: 7K internal raw & open gate recording.
Even though I doubt such a small package can fit something like this, just imagine if this thing turns out to have internal NDs. The RF mount can certainly handle it, as shown on the C70, C80, and C400, which all have internal NDs on the same mount. I recall seeing a patent filing suggesting they we

Canon R50 V as a Cinema Camera.
Feels like everything they’re doing should’ve been done five years ago. As a happy C70 owner, who just needs a good B cam/photo camera that won’t break the bank and also shoots the same profiles as the C70, it’s honestly infuriating how embarrassing Canon’s hybrid offers are. For video shooters or e

Need feedback on my VR180 video quality - used Neat Video and Topaz AI, but still not satisfied
I am a working VR professional and you're on the right track it's just a matter of understanding how to use the tools. First of all, what settings did you use on your r5c? Hopefully you shot Canon raw LT 8K at 59.94 frames per second. Canon color science is a little different and you have to get use

Canon R5C 8k30 fisheye looks way better than 8k60. Any tips? I must be doing something wrong
It's okay be a newbie. We all wear it one time. I echo everything that has been said. ISO base 3200, keep your ISO as low as you can go, often I use 640 but try never to go above 800. F-stop either 4.5 or a Max of 5.6. Definitely shoot 8k-60 RAW LT. Just the 12-bit color sampling is enough to justif

Canon 1DX II video setup — still relevant in 2025 for €4200?
If you want Canon, I'd look at used cinema series bodies like the c200/c300mkii/r5c/c70). All should be cheaper than that bundle, but need lenses still. I like the cinema OS Canon has for video much more than their stills bodies with much better exposure tools like false color, waveform and most of

Looking to buy my first cinema camera
R5C has the most professional tools that translate to nailing exposure and working with future cinema cameras i.e. False Color and proper codec options like XFAVC and Canon Raw Light - it also supports both SD and CFExpress, which the FX-3 and Blackmagic do not.

I’m quite happy with my results from the R5c, particularly with interior content. However, there is a lot to the workflow, you need a ton of storage space, and it’s incredibly time-intensive. I’m not trying to pass myself off as an expert, but, here are some of the important details that have helped

Canon EOS VR utility not recognizing old MP4 footage.
Weird I have an odd recollection of being able to edit the mp4s? Because these specific ones were not shot in crm anyways so I just have the mp4s. Maybe my brain is just mixing it with the R7 & 3.9mm lens combo because I’ve been using that for the past few months & it ofcourse is all MP4’s. So you d

NEWBIE colour grading concerns
I’ve not used any of the newer R series, but moved over to C70 and that was much better. The R5c has a proper log (I think), so R62 probably will too. EOS R was a good camera, now feels a bit dated for video

Record to computer with Blackmagic UltraStudio 4K Mini vs. Record to SD Card
Your camera offers a lots of options: Canon Cinema RAW Light: this is going to yield best results in terms of quality and resolution as it is offer a RAW format with 12 bit colour depth. This is useful for colour grading, as conserving colour information and high res is helpful in post-production, h
