Nope. I don't think any of the newer large BW boox e-readers have a front light. I decided I would just give in and get a color ereader (note air 4c) but it's just not as good for manga and I returned it. I was pretty happy with the software though, and I would happily get something like the one OP

I have a Note Air 4c. I work in a tech retail store and we have the Remarkables on display - having tested both I can't say I felt that the texture of the screen on the Remarkable was any better than on the Boox which has a pre-applied matte screen layer (which I believe is true for the 5c as well).

I use the mobile app to read, but I own a Boox Note Air 4c, which is an Android tablet that has a color epaper screen. I very much recommend it! The Note Air 4c is quite big, which means you can have two columns besides each other just like on the iPad. There are smaller Boox tablets, which are comp

I own the Go 10.3 Boox Note air 4c and the Go 7 Gen 2 B&W and the Go 7 Gen 1. One bit off feedback is change the defualt background color setting for all Google apps to 0. The default is set to 1 and this results in buttons throughout the app to be blacked out. It took me a year to realise how to fi

IMHO, all Kaleido 3 color displays are flawed - dark and unusable without front light, muted colors, long pen tip to ink distance - compared to Gallery 3. I’ve tried the Boox Note Air 4C and was disappointed that I had to keep the front light on at all times, and the writing feel was not much better

I've owned and do currently own several Boox devices. To me you first need to determine if color is important to you. If not my recommendation would be the Go 10.3 or Note Max, since you do a lot of PDFs. However, if not having a frontlight is a deal breaker I would say go for the Note Air 4C or the

Kobo sage and Boox Note Air 4C here. Even switching between BW and color on the Boox is barely noticeable. The sage is slightly sharper, but the difference is nowhere near as bad as this sub would have you believe, as long as you’re not laying your face on the e-reader to compare. Normal reading dis

nsights. I'm trying to decide on my first Boox device and not sure if I want the Note Air 4C or the 5. Of course I want the newest device but the 4C has everything I nee and I could save a couple dollars Is the Kaleido 3 screen on the 5c better than the one on the 4c?

With b/w eink you usually can use the frontlight in a way that it just looks like brighter paper. With color eink you usually have to set it to a level that you actually see the light. Some people just don't like that. Boox devices also have the problem that they don't adept the frontlight in a good

Great question! Black and white e-ink is pretty high resolution at 300 ppi. However, a Kaleido 3 colour e-ink screen (the most popular and common type of colour e-ink, and the one in the Kobo Libra Colour) is basically a normal 300ppi black and white e-ink screen with a 150ppi colour filter layer on
