hi, I had a Boox Go 10.3 (Gen 1) for a month and switched to 10.3 Lumi about a week ago. I switched for the front light. Biggest diff is the pen so far (aside from light). Had a pen 2+ but that doesn't work on this one.

A BOOX tablet, although Android just like your current tablet, won't do the same things your current Android tablet does. E-ink display technology is simply too slow. Android e-ink tablets are great as e-readers, but quite awful as generic Android tablets. However, sharing the Android DNA means you

Squeeze your typical PDF into a small size (you can try with the dimensions of a 7’’ reader or a phone form factor device) and consider if you can read it comfortably without zooming in. Zooming is not very convenient on eInk screens, so … a small device, if you can’t read the text as-is, will maybe

I'm surprised no one's mentioned the SuperNote. It seems like it might tick most of your boxes (though no front light). The SuperNote still uses EMR technology, so the handwriting experience may feel much better for you. However, it does looks like Boox might have done some software smoothing to ame

I have the AIPaper and really like it. I’ve tried the RM2, AI Note 2, and Manta, and so far, AI Paper is my favorite. I have a similar use case to yours, and find it fits my needs the best, and the thin form factor is very important to me. Auto synching with Google Drive is a big improvement in my v

I recommend an Android device with a front light. In Europe, I can recommend the Boox Go 10.3 Lumi from ereader.store or ereaderweb.nl; I've shopped at both stores and received excellent service

What is obsolete? All you need is something that reads PDFs, mobis, basic word processing docs and takes simple notes. The Viwoods VI Paper and Onyx Boox Go 10.3 do both very well right now. Nothing even needs to be updated Unless you need a battery replacement, these devices can last indefinitely.

Thank you so much for your reply! The e-reader I was thinking of getting is actually a BOOX Go 10.3 (Gen II) Lumi; it's the first time I've found one that almost perfectly matches what I'm looking for (Even though the stylish feature doesn't really interest me)

Lots of better alternatives. Viwoods Aipaper, Viwoods Mini, Boox Note Air 5C, Boox Go 10.3 Lumi, and others from Bigme and Supernote. They all run Android, are more powerful, have better screens, allow you to use apps, and are generally better priced.

The brand new Boox Go 10.3 Gen II Lumi sounds excellent (I have my eye on it - have some gift cards in a local store I need to use at some point, so I’m waiting for it to become available here). It’s around $450 though I believe. If you want colour … I have no idea what’s good out there. Boox Note A
