MIDI controller

honestly, i swear by a good set of headphones off rip. but good is subjective and depends on your taste of high mid and low ends. i use beyerdynamics DT990 open back. and they treat me rather well. audiotechnica has pretty nice quality for a better budget. if anything, id get a month of splice and s

senheiser hd600 vs beyerdynamic dt900 pro x

I can’t speak to those exact headphones, but I’m a big fan of both Sennheiser and Beyerdynamic. I own Sennheiser HD620s and HD6XX, and Beyerdynamic DT-770 80ohm and DT-990 250ohm. Sennheisers usually need less EQ, but I prefer Beyerdynamic’s form factor once EQ’d. In the US, the HD6XX is a good, aff

Work accommodations

You just wear headphones over your HAs. I’ve tried this and found that it’s not very comfortable depending on the headphones. The Beyerdynamic ones mentioned above are good though as they have large ear cups. I’ve also had good luck with Hifiman and Sennheiser headphones.

Best headphones up to 200 euros to appreciate Opeth, Caligulas Horse, Haken etc

beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO X. Best Headphones I’ve ever heard. You’ll need a DAC and headphone amplifier to get best results. But bass, middle and especially the heights are so beautiful. They are open back and the soundstage is phenomenal. If you’re more the closed back type go with the 770 Pro X.

Just bought a Yggdrasil Singular "Byggy"

I tried it once forever ago at B&H, which is an awful way to audition open air headphones being fed by who knows what wrt signal chain, but I heard enough to pique my curiosity. I've already got other options from Audeze, Sennheiser, Koss, and Beyerdynamic, but I'm still tempted to try them out.

Mixing headphone testing - London

Sennheiser HD560s/HD600/HD650 depending on what you are comfortable spending. I used 560s and 650 for most of college in our school's control room. I use Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250ohm for mixing. WIth Oratory's EQ presets, they are kick ass. too bright ootb without eq however. They are 9.5/10 in com

Failing headband cushion

Main thing: swap to the Premium Edition DT 770/990 headband like you did or are considering; it’s basically the “fix and forget” solution for this problem. The stock DT 900 Pro X headband foam is just not built for being shoved in bags, even in a case. I’ve had similar peeling/cracking on DT 770s wh

Got high end headset still playin guess where they are

Headphone Dac/Amp is the ticket. I have the Topping DX II paired with Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250Ohm Open Back headphones. 10 band EQ on my DAC makes it so I can hear someone a floor below me turn laying down and know what side of the room they are on. Absolute game changer. What IEM's do you use?

DT 770 Pro X or DT 700 Pro X

The headband thing on the 700 was a design defect that Beyerdynamic found and fixed after about a year of selling the headphones. They haven't fixed anything. Even the new version doesn't last much longer. I'm already on my third replacement headband for my three year old DT900 Pro X.
