The only time I've found footsteps are of much benefit is in CQB/TDM type gameplay where there are just infantry. Even then it's only directional in a flat plane. No vertical sense to it. Have tried 3 or 4 of the audio output presets (headphones, 3d headphones, 5.1, whatever) along with several of t

MMX 330s are tuned for gaming (FPS). Yes you can EQ the DT900 Pro"s to the same level but out of the box the MMX 330s are better, especially for footstep audio. Even compared to the DT 1990 Pro MKII I can pinpoint footstep directions easier with the MMX 330 Pro in BF6 and the Mic is fantastic.

I second Beyerdynamic. Dt900 pro x feels like a wall hack in comparison to most mainstream brands. I used to own steelseries because they tend to be lighter (and therefore gentler on my neck muscles after long sessions) and they were decent. Turtle beach especially some of their wireless ones are he

If you’re mainly playing Counter-Strike, don’t just focus on the headset, the sound tuning matters just as much. A lot of high-end options like Audeze Maxwell, Beyerdynamic DT900 Pro X, or even HD560S can perform insanely well once you run a proper FPS EQ profile. The goal is boosting positional cue

I am using stock EQ with my DT900 pro x. I have no issues hearing footsteps and often time I heard the footsteps before my teammates do.

If your main focus is competitive gaming (footsteps / positioning / clarity) you’ll usually get better results looking at headphones with a more neutral or slightly bright tuning rather than “bass-heavy gaming headsets.” Since you don’t need a mic, some really solid options: Under ~$200 • Sennheiser

the DT900 is not really meant for gaming. It’s more meant for professional music use. Beyer’s MMX 330(Open Back) or MMX 300(Closed back) would be way better for gaming.

Fwiw, I’m also in Aus, and have had these (the Arctis Nova Pro Wirelss), the previous Arctis Nova Pro Wireless’, and various other gaming headsets. From a spec sheet point of view, these were my perfect headset. They’re very comfortable, didn’t fatigue my ears, sounded good (for what I knew at the t
