QuickSync vs dedicated GPU for transcoding, is the quality difference actually noticeable
My Plex/Jellyfin media server is a cheap $150 BeeLink S12 Pro mini pc sitting in a shelf in a rack with $1000s of dollars of Supermicro and Dell servers. 😆🤪 I get a kick out of it every time I see it sitting there. There are at least 11 music streams and 1 4K stream running 24/7. I can stream anothe

Those of you who use a Beelink, which one is best?
Beelink S12 Pro will do 4K no problem. Can also transcode 4k to 1080p with about 5-6 streams at a time maybe more but I haven't got that many. There are other brands with very similar configurations, the main thing you want to look for is the N100 CPU this is one of the most common for Plex Servers.

Turing Pi 2.5 build guide: complete parts list and what it actually costs in 2026
I bought one back in the kickstarter, tho I accidentally ordered 2, kept the spare thinking I'd go with 1 for dev work (software dev, experimentation etc) and another for 'prod' (home automation, services I wanted up all the time etc) I've had one running with 4x CM4 modules, the other I never setup

VBAT is a liar.
I got it for free, can't beat that. Depends how much lower you can go with power consumption, I have a little Beelink N100 (S12 Pro) that pulls 6-10W idling, cost me £166.83 2.5 years ago. 10W 24/7/365 at £0.27 per unit (expensive electricity in the UK) costs me £23.65 per year, so I'll break even w

What brands or models to stay away from
A $150 BeeLink S12 Pro includes a 512gb M.2 with Win11, 16GB DDR4 Ram and has a spare 2.5” drive bay to add an SSD. We have several of these little systems. Ram can be expanded to 32GB. We’ve put both 2TB and 4TB M.2 drives in and an 8TB SSD drive. My son uses one with Proxmox hypervisor and pfSense

New to TeslaMate
I’m no expert, but I recommend an N100 or N150-based device, such as the Beelink S12 Pro. It has enough power to let you expand to other things, like running Home Assistant and whatever else you want. If ALL you want is teslamate and you’re confident you won’t expand, then a Pi3 would probably be su

Dedicated low power consumption rig for Frigate
I don't have any experience with the hailo chips, but I built a dedicated Frigate box with an N100 mini PC. I used a Beelink S12 pro w/16GB RAM and added a 4TB 2.5" SATA 870 EVO SSD. I think the newer ones are dual m.2 and don't do 2.5" SATA anymore, but I could be wrong there. It works very well fo
