Sette 270

Baratza ESP Pro, Baratza Sette 270, DF54. Should really stretch the budget to get something better.

I have a baratza sette 270. I wouldn't exactly recommend it - it is very noisy and the macro and micro settings have drifted since day one.

It did not chew through one on my Baratza Sette 270. It didn’t hurt the actually grinder but it broke the plastic housing from the torque

Sette uses plastic gearboxes, and I've seen a number of them damaged - including my own. Baratza's support was great at the time, though I've heard it's slipped since. Get a bit of aluminum butyl insulation material to clad the plastic parts from the inside to dampen things a bit. I can't speak to the hibrew grinder, but i just changed out a baratza sette 270 for a eureka mignon zero s55 and changing no other variables, it has made a huge difference. Not just in noise but in flavor as well. I've been very happy with it so far.
