Sette 270

I just received this last night Build quality definitely looks sturdy, design wise yes it might cause a divisive opinion Several things that stand out is how quiet it is, I had Baratza Sette 270 and the noise difference is night and day

I have a baratza sette 270. I wouldn't exactly recommend it - it is very noisy and the macro and micro settings have drifted since day one.

Had the Sette 270 for 2,5 years. It's as louad as a jet engine and your neighours will despise you. Get a bit of aluminum butyl insulation material to clad the plastic parts from the inside to dampen things a bit. Sette uses plastic gearboxes, and I've seen a number of them damaged - including my own. Baratza's support was great at the time, though I've heard it's slipped since. I can't speak to the hibrew grinder, but i just changed out a baratza sette 270 for a eureka mignon zero s55 and changing no other variables, it has made a huge difference. Not just in noise but in flavor as well. I've been very happy with it so far.

I also have an obnoxiously loud bean disposal (Sette 270) but have thankfully not encountered this issue yet. If you’ve confirmed all is well with the burr I agree this probably goes deeper (motor/gearing). I’d reach out to Baratza to see what they suggest. Also see if there are any coffee/espresso

I have the sette 30 with the 270 adjustment ring, its so loud its obnoxious especially the pitch is jarring. Otherwise it does the job, on a budget you either suffer baratzas noise in exchange for decent customer service and ability to repair or try your luck with the white labelled grinders

The noise level is directly related to the RPM. A I'm running it at top RPM, I can't say it's "quiet" or "not loud" but it would be those (more so) if I ran it at 500 RPM or lower. When I compare it to my Eureka Silenzio, I'd say it's mmm as loud as that but with an extra component of a taste of a h
