It did not chew through one on my Baratza Sette 270. It didn’t hurt the actually grinder but it broke the plastic housing from the torque

Used Eureka Specialita or New Baratza Sette 270? [$400]

Sette uses plastic gearboxes, and I've seen a number of them damaged - including my own. Baratza's support was great at the time, though I've heard it's slipped since. New Sette 30 or Used Sette 270 [$230]

My daughter has the sette 270 paired with a Rocket Apartmento. The 270 does its job well, but super loud, with a plastic gearbox that will go out eventually. I’d say she makes 1 or 2 espresso per day and hers died around 3 years. .To be fair, baratza technical support was great, they sent a new gear

Baratza ESP Pro vs. Sette 270 [$500]

At that price point, the sette 270 gives you amazing grind quality and speed. The downside is that it sounds like you're drilling into the countertop and the gearbox rips itself apart. I had the 270wi and after about a year of daily use the gearbox was starting to slip and consistently underdosing b
