Is this unacceptable?
You will be better putting virgin hub in modem mode and using your own router. I'm on M500 using a Asus ax82u router. This is a speed test taken upstairs with router downstairs.

Mesh or AP, recommendations?
I have two RT-AX82U setup up, one as primary and one via AIMesh. Works swimmingly and in case one goes down, I can use the other as primary router.

Internet speed
iPhones use 2 streams, with a maximum of 433Mbps per stream on AC, for a total of 866Mbps. That's theoretical connection bandwidth, so actual data transfer will always be less than that due to overhead, plus the rate will drop due to distance, interference, etc. https://support.apple.com/guide/deplo

Mesh or AP, recommendations?
1.) No, you can mix and match asus products. If you are going wireless, tri-band (dedicated wireless backhaul) may be better. But if you have it wired, dual-band is fine. 2.) as long as it is wired, it should not matter 3.) You can just buy another RT-AX82U, and it will work. If you go to the web in

Router recommendations

GL.iNet Flint 2 - overkill for 1 bedroom apartment?
Depends on what you are looking for, that is mainly a router worth it if you want good VPN performance, built in adguard and like to tinker (OSS). If you. just want performance for the same budget, TP-Link Archer BE550 or ASUS RT-AX82U V2. Imho.

ASUS RT-AC68U weird crashes during Milano-Cortina
Fair play. I had an AX88U acting as primary and an AX82U acting as mesh node, after having served as a primary before in front of a AX52 mesh node. And had some other AX before that and so forth so on. And each one of those devices has been serving for years without a single problem, somne running M

Virgin Media - Appalling
All routers should be kept work date as well knows if it's going to be compromised, e.g. since they're using Asus router there was a huge amount of vulnerabilites exposed this year/last year if it's not updated, see https://www.fing.com/news/new-asus-router-vulnerability-attack/ Or just their router

I also have to add, if the BE82U has different features with the AX82U... you will have to choose which would be the better main router. You may lose some features since they are from different generations.
