I do not think you highlighted the handheld situation enough: The Asus ROG Xbox Ally non-X (with Z2 A chip) is the weakest of the bunch followed by the Asus ROG non-Xbox Ally non-X (with Z1 non-Extreme chip), but I think they are not worth purchasing or thought at all because the Steam Deck is cheap

Yeah, I'd bet it is a performance thing. I am on an Asus Ally X. Captured this at 4k ultra on it connected to a GPU dock. Performance is okay but would have been a lot smoother at 1080p

He’s talking about the non-Xbox version with Z1 Extreme chip. I just got the ASUS ROG Ally X, which has 1TB SSD, 24GB RAM and 120hz screen, for $430 used. The battery is much larger too.

Use the website rog ally life to help guide you on best settings. If you don't go to sketchy sites or download sketchy files you might disable memory integrity /core isolation for a couple more fps. I only recommend this if you strictly game and don't torrent/ download things that may have malware /
