I'm sure some folks want more performance even at higher power. But, IMO, that should be resesrved for desktops. Or at least give us an option to throttle just the CPU. As NBC writes and I agree on 1T power (Cinebench is just one example; seeing the power draw of the "everyday" loads would be great)

This is inane. This is a fundamentally flawed understanding of how these systems work. For pure photo-editing (Lightroom / Photoshop) on the built-in screen, the 14” MacBook Pro M5 is the stronger, more balanced choice out of the box. The FW 13 Pro has a 74wh battery so a bit longer, but I don't see the point you are making. The MacBook M5 Pro 14 inch can sustain max CPU load unplugged at ~40 watts on its 72wh battery which is under 2 hours.

I just picked up a base m5 MBP. I paid extra for two things. the nano screen (I use it outside) and the fast charger (I use it outside). I love the idea that the Neo allows a low entry point for new Mac owners. Neo, HomePod mini, iPhone, iPad, AppleTV. all are under 1700.
