M4 Mac mini cluster saving thousands per month

We’re on monthly billing with Google Cloud. I maxed out most of the specs on the Mac mini but I don’t think I ended up needing to. I wasn’t sure what the hardware requirements would end up being so I erred on the side of over-provisioning: M4 Pro chip with 14‑core CPU, 20‑core GPU, 16-core Neural En

New NAS product pages are up!

M4 Mac Mini on Amazon is $499. Add the UNAS Pro for another $499. You've got a more powerful compute module with more bays available in a rack-mount setup for less than the Synology RS822+.

M4 Pro Mini

I’m jealous!! I got the base M4 Pro Mac Mini last year and I love it. But to have 64GB RAM and 2TB storage would be awesome!! And especially not having to pay the vary large price for that config. Nice!

why i chose the m4 mac mini

Im about to trade my M1pro MBP 16GB/1TB for an M4 24GB/2TB Mac Mini, i almost always use external displays anyways, and i think is a great device.

M4 32gb 512gb or M4 pro 24gb 512gb

Pro has much faster RAM AND SSD .. NO EXTERNAL DRIVE WILL READ/WRITE FASTER THAN AN INTERNAL SSD as internal SSD is used in most if not all regular writes/reads. In a Mac, file caching occurs in both RAM and on the SSD. 256 GB SSD writes at 1,500-2,000 MB/s. It will constrain effective speed of USB4

Still getting system overloads after upgrading computers

I only know what you’ve told me so based on that I’m making some guesses: The project you’re in maybe isn’t so modestly sized. Or maybe you’re running too many plugins. Everyone thinks 10 plugins per track on a 50 track session is normal. If you need all that then it’s time to start freezing tracks.

Got my mac mini m4, suggestions on new setup

When I upgraded from my base M1 Mac Mini, I used a Time Machine backup cluttered with “system data” that I did not need and made my new M4 base Mac Mini unusable as it was maxed on storage space right out of the gate. 72 gb of it was messages so I have to use it signed out of iMessage. When I looked

Does anyone have a good reccomendation for a computer for Photographer?

Im a pc nerd, love making gaming specs, but ive gotta hand it to apple in terms of anything including graphics. Id recommend either a Mac mini M4 + 1tb of storage or a macbook pro. If you really like windows or Linux then youd need something quite custom. Wouldn't recommend you any prebuilts.

Specs for working on a mac

I run on a mac mini 2024 m4 chip with 16gb ram and 256 ssd. It runs very well for all my development. The only issue is the MacOS nefarious storage creep. Eventually you will need to do some serious clean up because MacOS and especially dev stuff with emulators and SDKs litter your system with hard

Specced Mac Mini

tl;dr: For basic edits, a base M4 Mini with either 16 or 24GB RAM will be plenty. Will an M4 Studio Max make everything faster? Yes. Will an M4 Studio Max be massively underutilized? Also, yes. Unless you’re editing 4K/8K video - the M4 Studio‘s extra video encoders/decoders will mostly go to waste.
