So there just won't be any Laptop gpus?

Unlikely. For laptops, mini PCs and Consoles, AMD is focusing on their APU's. Besides, have you seen the reviews of the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with the Raden 8060S? It's quite capable.

Nvidia's N1X Apple Silicon rival is two years behind

But the article is specifically about being competitive against Apple. Yeah it’ll be better than AMDs Strix Halo in some ways but that’s besides the primary point.

Would a Threadripper APU make sense in 2029? RDNA 5 integrated graphics, 512GB unified memory?

I would pay real money for a single MI300A desktop system right now but I think you have the segments mixed up. The Threadripper platform is about PCIe lanes and connectivity. You get a Threadripper so you can stuff a box full of cards; dGPUs, networking, storage, whatever. What you seem to be descr

AMD Zen 6 CPUs confirmed to work on existing AM5 motherboards | Asus and Asrock confirm Zen 6 support, next-gen Ryzen CPUs on track for early 2027

The latency change ain't caused by the interconnect or packaging, it's caused by the use of lpddr with really loose timings. Point here, the product focuses on bandwidth for the igpu and not cpu gaming perf. It's a mobile workstation design that focuses on raw compute and not games That's a sea of w

RTX Spark's 128GB Unified Memory Sounds Great Until You Realize It Kills Upgradability. We Need Dedicated AI Accelerator Cards Instead

Especially for laptops, a single performant APU with unified memory like AMD Strix Halo or Apple M-series SoC seems to be way to go due to efficiency

[Chips and Cheese] AMD’s RDNA4 GPU Architecture at Hot Chips 2025

The Intel Lunar Lake iGPU made huge upgrades and is faster than AMD Strix Point. AMD Strix Halo which has a massive iGPU is the fastest iGPU.

Framework Desktop review: Mini PC wrapped in a mini-ITX body

APU even have the compute to do AI in a reasonabe amount of time It's not the worst. The thing is with bigger models, you ideally want the entire thing in memory. That's why you'll find articles about how this runs the bigger Deepseek models faster than a 5090 or whatever. I'm kinda tempted to get o
