It just depends on what you're looking for. You basically have three classes of devices available to you: Kindle: generally excellent hardware for the price point, but the software is middling, at best. Long tradition of making the experience of using the device actively worse as Amazon chases reven

I keep it on airplane mode all the time, which is what annoys me. I've also jailbroken it, following all steps to ensure no updates occur. It's a Kindle Oasis. Still, it reverted the process overnight despite no update being pushed. I had to factory reset it. Right now, I'm waiting for a brand new X

I have a Kobo Libra 2, bought about two and a half years ago, and was coming from a Kindle Oasis 3. I haven't actually switched... I still use the Kindle daily, as well as of course the Kobo. Using multiple devices seems to make it easier for me to juggle books. Maybe that's just me... because Kobo

I'm a button snob. I had a Kindle Voyage for 10 years that has the button like press areas. Would have loved an Oasis, but they were too rich for me. I sideload all my books, and Amazon likes to remove sideloaded books from devices. I often would be halfway through a book to find it was gone when I

Really I wanted the ability to easily read a book I purchased outside of Amazon. Kindle made that EXTREMELY difficult. Most of the time the send to kindle was broken and just gave errors. It was so frustrating. My Oasis was a good device from a build and tech standpoint, but if it cannot read my own

So it’s still supported and even getting updates? And they provide instructions on how to update it? I mean, I don’t even have a Kobo so I don’t even know why I’m arguing, LOL (I’ve been eyeing them occasionally but realised that what I actually wanted & needed wasn’t a shiny new e-reader but app su

10th gen Paperwhite - during Covid so couldn't get physical books. I had a Kindle keyboard but it was still attached to my mom's Amazon account and didn't want to turn the wifi off to put it on mine. Oasis - this one was super unnecessary. I just wanted to test it out and see what the fuss was. 12th

If you have the backlight off? None. Zero. If you have the backlight on (I only have it on in the dark), and turn it on to 1-8% set to ultra warm, it is still very minimal. I can read for hours on it with no problem unlike a traditional LED/OLED display. E-ink displays are hands down the best way to

I've been reading using a Kindle or a Kobo for about 13 years now. I've never used a screen protector and the only issue I ever had with a device was my Kindle Oasis having strange software freakouts after about seven years of use. BTW the Kobo Libra Color - which I use now - does not have any gloss

Oh so that was the reason for that bulk? I thought it was for people to grab on or something hahahahaha! I personally liked the design of the kindle oasis but that was all. Except that, Kobo is way better and easy to edit the interface. And tags! I can finally have tags!
