Home Studio Set Up - Advice

Audio Interface is simply a device that lets you convert Analog audio to Digital audio and vice versa. It takes analog audio in (from a microphone, or line level source) and converts it to digital so your computer can record it in a DAW like Reaper. Then it converts it back - digital audio playback

my game room

They are Yamaha HS5 or HS7 can't tell exactly what size. I have the HS7s and they are not harsh at all. They are extremely flat and amazing for music production. Worth every penny I spent on them.

Anyone practice with studio monitors?

Studio monitors, much like 2 or 3 way PA speakers are full range speakers so you can pretty much play any instrument in your toolbox through them. I have a Musicman Stingray 4 string, and it sounds especially great through my studio mon

Current “battlestation”

Front ported monitors. I had a couple Yamaha HS7's and sure they were crisp and "flat", but honestly the most boring speakers imagineable and impossible to get low end with the rear firing bassport. Bought the cheaper Kali LP-6 and it's night and day, so much better.

How do I turn my square room into a good production/mixing environment?

Typically putting bass corner traps in all corners will help, too many can’t hurt at all! After that, use the eq software I mentioned to fine tune if there’s any humps or ‘room modes’. This is tailored to specific placement of the bass traps (as well as the corner traps)! Regarding studio monitors,

Studio monitors for synths AND a stage piano

At that budget, you will get a better sound out of the headphones. There is no escaping that. In order to get a nice, balanced, full-range sound out of the speakers, you'd need room treatment. Yamaha HS7 goes down to 50 Hz, so ideally 6 acoustic panels, some 10 inches thick, would be nice. That woul

Give up on trying to make mix sound good on phone speaker?

Welcome to the world and need for studio reference monitors. Yes, they're expensive as speakers go, but they provide the flat response that allows you to mix and master appropriately by ear and have it be at least representative on most other playback devices. The LAST thing you want to do is EQ to
