This may be a bit of a rant but here’s my perspective: The product XTEINK are busy selling is a small e-ink screen, not a book reader. The device is really cool because it’s minimalistic and pocketable but in order to be a book reader it lacks: decent epub rendering capability: it improved recently

Kobo isn't paying attention to all of the smaller e-readers that have come out lately. In addition to the cellphone-shaped devices, now there is the XTEink x4. The screen is not too much smaller than that of the Mini, but the bezels are much smaller. I have three of the Minis, and the x4, but I woul

Not sure why people rave about the Xteink X4. It's an interesting enthusiast's device, but it doesn't even have a frontlight. I wouldn't recommend it as Baby's First E-Reader. Clara BW is a really great choice for the price. You can get a GlowLight 4 used for a really great price, but you have to tw

Check out xteink x4, it's 74g. Note that the software is very limited as it runs on the ESP32-C3 MCU. There is also Obook 5 at 100g. No need to ask here, just open https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/ and sort the table by weight to see them all. Screenshot of the top lightest devices:

Seconding the posts suggesting looking at second-hand readers - e-readers have fragile screens but otherwise it’s tech that holds up well, so a second-hand Kindle or Kobo or PocketBook that is in a decent shape (the screen is intact) will be fine for this purpose. Even very old ones (15 years old) s

Dear u/xteink team. You forgot to say that first the people need to gather a font in the ttf format that includes all glyphs for the desired language. Than the people need to find a specific program on gitee or github, download this to their windows pc and convert in the ttf font file into the bin f

They seem a bit different - the PaperS3 screen is 960x540 4.7”, the Xteink X4 is 800x480 4.3” screen. Also the PaperS3 is a touchscreen, but the X4 isn’t. Also the PaperS3 is easy to program and add an additional i2c sensor to, while the X4 seems mostly just an eReader.

I've got one in the mail because I love the concept, but the Y-Ben P47L is probably the more sensible choice for most people (although the battery life is terrible). The Xteink S4 is apparently going to be android based, but given the weight bump to 100g I think I'll stick with the P47L. I wish we h

I haven’t touched my Kobo because I can’t sync to it, and don’t feel like finding the page I’m on. Page number 6,879 doesn’t really equate to anything of meaning for other normal-sized eReaders. I’m reading IT currently, and started reading the physical book, but have read a good 20% on the X3. I ju
