How do you know it's SSD-related? The WD Blue SN5000 4 TB is a fast drive, even though it uses SLC NAND, and it's not like I'm using a ton of disk IO for other stuff simultaneously. The other guy said he had a Samsung 990 PRO which is just about the best quality NVMe SSD that you can get these days.

There is no reason to use separate drives; a single 2 TB NVMe SSD can handle everything. The NV3 often uses QLC flash, which has low durability and becomes noticeably slower after a few years. Get a better drive with TLC flash like the TeamGroup MP33 Pro, Kingston KC3000/Renegade Fury, WD Blue SN500
