Is Decky bad or something?
It's not bad, it's just that it's outside software, so you have to expect it to sometimes conflict with what Valve updates. I've personally noticed that my Deck sometimes doesn't fully shut down when I tell it to, so I have to hold the power button, and it's more than likely Decky (or a Decky plug-i

“For parts” Steam Deck
hey OP this is important. i bought a refurbished deck a couple years ago, and it would occasionally die like that and i would rescue it by rebuilding the bios. eventually it stopped being recoverable with a bios rebuild. i bought a bios flashing tool and dumped the bios and used a 'box fresh' bios.

I feel like some people forget about the "portable" part of a "portable" gaming device like the deck.
I just replaced my Steam Deck LCD with a Steam Deck OLED just two months ago. Forget Portal, Valve's greatest accomplishment is getting me to pay $550 for Zen 2 cores and RDNA2 graphics in 2025 and not making me feel like I got ripped off.

Please stop misleading people on Steam Reviews when using LSFG
Keep in mind, if you ever see a steam deck user say "runs amazingly" or "solid 60" they’re lying their ass off. It really means "game runs like shit and looks like a pixelated mess. But it’s my only pc so I’m full of cope" the crimson desert performance videos comment section are horribly misleading

Steam Controller Price (Allegedly) Leaked By Early Review - and It’s Expensive ($99)
There are a lot of people latching onto the idea that the Steam hardware is meant to be mainstream and accessible for console audiences despite Valve repeatedly making it clear that this is PC hardware for enthusiasts. Honestly, this is less than I'd expected, I was thinking more like $120. For the

Newly Verified ‘Death Stranding 2’ running at sub 20 frames during combat.
Steam verification has honestly not meant much to me remotely for the past 2 years or so. Especially as the SD has become more and more underpowered for newer harder to run games. I love my steam deck oled but I have tried more than a few “verified” games that just don’t remotely work well on it.

Steam Deck 2 reportedly targeting 2028, delays are possible due to RAM/NAND shortage (KeplerL2)
Yes but Switch games are custom designed for ARM. Valve will always need to make PC games (all x86) work on ARM using a translation layer. A really good x86 machine still makes more sense. The battery life on the Steam Deck OLED is already pretty good for most situations. If they can maintain that w

I am so glad I chose the Steam Deck over the Xbox Rog Ally.
I choose an ROG Ally X because I wanted “a bigger battery”… I ended up getting a Steam Deck OLED as well later because I wanted the track pads. The interesting thing I found is that the deck is just SO optimised that the battery performance is the same as the Ally X is almost every game. Example, my

ASUS ROG Xbox Ally with Ryzen Z2A drops to $499
This is such a weird device because it’s basically steam deck price for steam deck performance with a higher resolution screen but that’s not really an advantage because then you just don’t run games at native resolution because that chip is more going to like 720 than 1080. You get VRR but you lose
