seeking advice for my first NAS? (beginner friendly)
Fellow beginner here- I’ve been getting the parts and am about to set up my first Network Attached Storage (NAS) as well. I chose to go with the UGREEN DXP2800 Because after lots of research I found that Synology may be more plug&play but the hardware is currently known for being out dated. If you h

Buying first NAS soon - UGREEN NASync DXP2800
Hi, since we're close to Black Friday, I'm considering buying a NAS. I was checking around and the DXP2800 sounds like a good compromise between price and quality. Realistically, I don't need that much space, so 2 HDD slots + 2 SSD slots is going to be more than fine. I'll probably start with 1 8TB

Rasberry pi 5 vs Ugreen nas
I think the ugreen will be better as it should have more powerful processor. But keep in mind that that ugreen model won’t have space for an internal SSD (which is where you should store Immich’s postgresql db) I would personally go with a dxp2800 so that you can have 2 nvme SSDs

How do you guys save the gigantic amounts of pictures you take?
A NAS is a Network Attached Storage. It's basically an energy-efficient computer specialized in storing data that you keep running 24/7. Example: https://nas-eu.ugreen.com/products/ugreen-nasync-dxp4800-plus-nas-storage You stil need to buy a bunch of harddrives. (the "ARRAY" he referred to) For me,

DXP2800 vs. DXP4800 Plus - Power saving vs. Upgradability
I was also thinking DXP2800 for lower price and power consumption but just ordered DXP4800 instead. Had good discount and figured for extra £100 I would probably be thankful for extra 2 bays in few years time. Idle power is higher than I expected given its the same N100 processor as the DXP2800. My

seeking advice for my first NAS? (beginner friendly)
The DXP2800 is a good choice as a starter NAS. Another good budget choice would be the Terramaster F2-425 or even the F4-425. Both are quite competitive in terms of price and performance and their software is more mature compared to UGreen's. Just make sure to select the largest HDDs your budget can

Mini PC Recommendations (UK) – Frigate + HA
I have my ugreen dxp2800 2bay nas powered by 8 gig and a n100 cpu and it does everything without complaints. Runs frigate with gpu detection openvino, runs immich, rust desk server and does the typical stuff a nas has to do on top of it and cpu never goes over 50%. 2 spinning drives in raid 1 are th
