Can I setup with 1 drive, then add 2 more & switch to Raid5

Ugreen SHR As of August 2025, UGREEN does not offer a Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR) equivalent in its UGOS operating system. The UGREEN NASync series, including models like the DXP4800 Plus and DXP8800 Plus, currently only supports traditional RAID configurations (RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10) and JBOD, meaning

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room: ZFS support

Point well taken. Counterpoint, UGreen NAS units were released stateside in ~2024 IIRC. I received my DXP8800 Plus through the initial Kickstarter. At that time there were a number of noteworthy missing features such as iSCSI and it took them nigh on a year to implement it after announcing their inf

Personally I have seen my UGreen DXP8800 Plus be a bit more sensitive to HDD configurations. This is neither here nor their but if I were to pull a HDD fro

“Loacl”

FWIW, I’ve heard tell that only the new upcoming UGreen AI NAS models will support the upcoming UGreen surveillance cameras. Seems fairly ridiculous IMO. The non AI UGreen DXP8800 Plus and DXP6800 Pro should be able to support them just fine.

Simple secure physical file/data backup recommendation for professional video editor with large files on Mac Studio. Preferably won’t break the bank

I know it seems like quite an investment upfront, but you'll surely not regret it. Which HDDS do you currently own & plan to use? Does your Mac Studio have 10gbit Ethernet? By far the easiest and most bulletproof with the best MAC integration would be a Synology, which is also what most people I tal
