New to NAS's, where to start?

UGreen DXP6800 plus, as you get better CPU to handle hosting a game server and also sharing storage with friends and family accessing files concurrently

Help understand how you use your NAS

At least I am using Ugreen Apps. Theater and Photos. Work just fine. DXP8800 on sale is about $ 4000 in HDD. I have a DXP4800 plus and a DXP6800 pro. The 4800 is a backup of the 6800.

Yet another buy or build doubt

i know it is more expensive, BUT, if you get something like the Ugreen NAS DXP6800 Pro that unit has 6x bays rather than 2, so you already have expandability, BUT it has a PCIe expansion slot. you could in the future add an HBA card to the system to allow you to add expansion JBOD chassis or similar

NVMe SSD for read/write cache: is it worth it?

So honestly it's REALLY workload specific but it's all pretty standard stuff. Under the hood it's Linux' dm-cache which with the right workloads is actually pretty decent at providing decent accleration but isn't going to set the world on fire either. It's not going to give you greater bandwidth to

Ugreen or homelab?

I recently bought ugreen dxp2800 2 day and its been super simple. Setup is fast and easy. Mostly using docker and been a few days and no complaints. Learning curve is quick imo. Few issues due to my lack of knowledge but already figured it out. I love it so far. I have a mini pc on debian 13 for gam

Before the AI NAS Arrives, What's Your Setup Plan?

I have built two homelab brew-your-own-NAS, one with Proxmox on bare metal (30TB RAIDZ6/18TB usable from passthrough OpenMediaVault VM) and one with TrueNAS Scale on bare metal (RAIDZ6 50TB usable in two pools) - the second while I was waiting for my DXP 6800 Pro. The UGreen DXP 6800 Pro (20TB RAID

Images saved in media folder. How do I remove them and put them in a separate location?

For me personally i do not notice a performance issue while scrolling through my library in Jellyfin. But i've got a pretty powerfull NAS with 3x 16 TB ironwolf pro's in raid 5 (Ugreen DXP6800) I would do it to reduce noise a bit while scrolling through my library and to reduce wear and tear of my H

4-bay (DXP4800 Plus) or 6-bay (DXP6800 Pro)? Price vs performance?

Go for the new Ugreen IDX6011 and get the preorder Deal. Cheaper than the latest DXP6800, has 6 bay and new CPU. When you are fine with 32gb soldered RAM.. otherwise the IDX6011 ist also available with 64gb RAM. https://nas.ugreen.com/pages/ugreen-ai-nas-feature-introduction

DXP6800 Pro vs iDX6011 non-Pro models ---> strictly from a price perspective?

I wouldn't worry about the Kickstarter. If anything, the Kickstarter that produced the original models was FAR more risky as UGreen at the time wasn't know for NAS at all. This was a whole new direction for them and I knew it was a risk when I backed it. Sitting here now with my DXP6800 Pro doing st

6800 Pro enough for Plex & a VM?

I have a QNAP TS-431 too. It’s sort of decommissioned now at an offsite location. Same for my old Synology DS1815+ doing some basic tasks. My main NAS units now are a QNAP TS-653D (6 bay) and a UGreen DXP8800 Plus (8 bay). If you’re coming from a QNAP TS-431 and it’s served you well, you might want
