Ugreen Docker vs Portainer
IMO, Portainer is a much better interface. It's really that simple. You might also want to look at Dockge. Search for "Dockge vs Portainer" to learn the differences. I run a DXP4800+ and started off with the UGOS Docker app but quickly moved on once I discovered Portainer.

What is the simplest device for a total novice
My Ugreen dxp4800 plus was really straightforward. It's the first NAS I've used, and the storage functionality was super easy.

Have you replaced the operating system on your Ugreen Nas?
I use Proxmox on my dxp4800+ and dxp2800 also… On Proxmox i run a virtual maschine with TrueNAS installed.. it gives freedom to use different virtual maschines and LXC containers on both NAS while keeping the performance high.. Was very easy on dxp4800+.. less on the dxp2800 as i had trouble to get

Looking for a 4Bay Nas that'll allow me to install Ubuntu, consider the WAF (wife approval factor)
I bought a little Ugreen DXP4800+ and installed TrueNAS on it. The warranty allows you to install any OS you like so that’s nice. It’s been great, I also didn’t want to mess with building another system either and I love the small form factor. The GF approves in a big way.

Feeling Defeated / DH2300
Ah apologies, I have dxp4800+ and assumed the os and app centre was broadly the same across all of their NAS devices. In that case, using docker is the way to go. It’s not that hard - you need a docker compose which you can find plenty of examples online for, and just need to tweak a few bits like t

DXP4800 Plus - UGOS or UNRAID for ARR Stack + Plex
I think it will depend on your goal. I actually have two Ugreen NASes, a DXP4800 (N100) and just recently bought a DXP8800 Plus. My answer is: The OS will depend on what you'll want from it. If you're not super tech savy or want something simpler to deal with, I'd say UGOS is more than fine. You hav

Energy consumption: what's are your tips and tricks?
I tweaked some settings in the BIOS but not that much as the settings are already well configured. I disabled some ports like 10gb port (the bus and the controller) and sd card reader as I don’t use them. Check C states also. Intel speed shift and speedstep are normally already enabled. I chose to n

After 15 years with Synology, the last 3 months in unraid been life changing
Because most people who buy a NAS just want a plug and play setup. I used Synology for years. I switched to a uGreen dxp4800+, loaded Unraid on it. Couldn’t be happier.

Looking for a quiet, low-power NAS (2-4 bay) for photo library and working over network
If you can, put the NAS in a separate room from your work space to solve the noise. Been using a Ugreen DXP4800 Plus myself. Works great for me. I have a 125h/32gb/1512gb server for tasks like transcoding, and i have my Nvidia PC for hard work like locally ran LLM's. Both connect to the NAS over LAN
