That's actually a really good quetsion. But let's tart at the bginning: What an IDS typically does is to look into the behavious of a host OR the content of packets (deep packet inspection). It checks if the content is suspisious, e.g. by using a list of known patterns how an atack looks OR the behav

Great in-depth review as I think a write up like this may have had me hold off on my unas2 purchase. However, what this NAS has in lack of features can make up for in what you plan on using it for. (Give and take) My problems with ubiquiti at the moment is that they don't just make a great all aroun

Ignore Teleport, Ubiquiti already provides you with a much better native VPN option - just use the built-in Identity Endpoint service which includes Wireguard. I was also struggling to get Teleport working, until someone pointed me towards Unifi Identity Endpoint's Wireguard VPN. Free (for <50 users

Can you tell us how your internet/wifi works and equipment you have for them? If you want to consolidate your internet router/wifi/cameras, you can buy the Unifi Dream Machine (UDM), Unifi WiFi APs, and a hard drive to store the recordings within the UDM. Figure out how to power them over the ethern

The UDM Beast has a total of 15 ports in all. The ports are as follows: Two 2.5GbE ports (can be configured as LAN or WAN). Used Ubiquity for 4 years, always had auto update on everything. UDM, then UDM:SE and now UCG:Fibre… and UNAS Pro.. all on Official release channel. Never had an issue. No issue with 4.4.9 either.

I’m using a UniFi Dream Machine Pro, it’s about 5 years old but it’s a total beast, but it wasn’t cheap. I wanted something that was part of ecosystem with separate Wi-Fi access points.

Go with the U7 Pro XG instead of the Pro. Get the UCG Fiber instead of the UDM SE. If you are going to use protect get Ubiquiti cameras for the best integration. If AI detection is your priority, and you feel Ubiquiti doesn’t do it for you, don’t use protect or Ubiquiti cameras. Choose another manuf

Ubiquiti generally do NOT have sales of any kind, including BF. They are sold out a lot so they don't really have to. Last one I can remember is they discounted a weak version of the UDM Pro for a hundred dollars less or so. It's never their hottest products. I guess it doesn't hurt to wait a few we

If you did not back up your UDM then you are SOL. The AP's are tied to the software configuration, not the hardware itself. You can, for example, back up the config on one UDM, take out the hardware, restore the backup to a completely different UDM, and the AP's and everything adopted in that config
