Introducing: UniFi Drive 3.0

I know they say never buy into something based off of promises, but Ubiquiti keeps delivering. My UDM SE is a totally different animal compared to when I bought it a couple of years, ago, looks like the same might happen for my UNAS Pro :D

What exactly does intrusion protection actually do? (Technically)

That's actually a really good quetsion. But let's tart at the bginning: What an IDS typically does is to look into the behavious of a host OR the content of packets (deep packet inspection). It checks if the content is suspisious, e.g. by using a list of known patterns how an atack looks OR the behav

G4 Bullet Failed - RMA Denied

Had a similar experience with their RMA. Bought a UDM SE and learned a while into warranty that there is a power defect where if power goes out, it won’t come back on unless power is pulled manually. I received an RMA authorization, but no offer to replace the device before returning the one in prod

How vulnerable is Dream Machine VPN?

UniFi's VPN is either OpenVPN or Wireguard. Both can have (and have had) vulnerabilities which need to be patched. Just stay up to date on your Dream Machine's updates, and you should be fine. Ubiquiti is reasonably quick to patch the firmware if a major flaw hits. Since Wireguard is baked into the

Full rack or mini rack for my solution?

I agree completely with not overbuying. By the time you're ready to buy a house, a lot of the gear will be obsolete. Don't expect to re-use much when you're planning the network in your new home in 3 to 5 years. I upgraded my WiFi about a year ago, and I've lost track of the WiFi device upgrades Ubi

Netgear? NEVER AGAIN!!!

I’ll be the UniFi shill here, but try out a dream machine from ubiquiti. You can get into the weeds with what you want to do with it through the web panel. Netgear 100% sucked butts. I’d never buy their stuff again with how many hoops they put you through all the while spamming your email with ads a

5G Modems Incoming Soon?

Deep into Ubiquiti eco system. But for cellular, peplink is just the very best and my only choice. 4G UniFi failover for our UDM Pro SE works okay tho, but limited in features

Immediate drive failure in UNAS 2

Run the manufacturer diagnostic on the SSD - you'll probably need to do this on a PC. You could also SSH into the UNAS and run smartctl -a /dev/sdX (where X is the drive letter) - the fact that the UI is not showing any of the info that would be acquired from smartctl makes me think the drive has fa

Obvious camera use

Ubiquiti used to include those stickers in cameras I believe. I have few myself from older cameras (and/or UDM Pro? can't remember exactly). Sadly they no longer do that.

Just purchased a home with these cameras, steps needed to use them?

Can you tell us how your internet/wifi works and equipment you have for them? If you want to consolidate your internet router/wifi/cameras, you can buy the Unifi Dream Machine (UDM), Unifi WiFi APs, and a hard drive to store the recordings within the UDM. Figure out how to power them over the ethern
