Well I bought the Turin Legato V2 (I'm in the UsA). I was either going to get the Gaggia or the Gemilai 3007Z (Turin Legato V2 or MiCoffee Apex V2 in these parts). Gaggia interested me due to it's long solid reputation but I wanted to be able to adjust things as my tastes change in coffee every so o

Turin Legato V2 would be the only machine in your price range (actually under it) that would be a notable upgrade. Makes very good espresso and milk drinks, not quite dual boiler but very near it with a brew boiler and separate thermoblock for steaming. Pre-infusion, PID control, adjustable OPV, and

Turin Legato V2. Wendougee Data S ($3000, but a killer of any Decent and any Italian machine less than $7000 - has many Italian Swiss components).

I'm a true believer that the turin legato v2 is the best machine you can get for $500. For reference, I used to have one. The flow control isn't true flow control where you can change it mid-shot in order to give your different pressure profiles. You could dimmer mod it to be able to do that pretty

If you don't care about steaming there is literally zero reason to buy a Bambino. A $100 De'Longhi will pull better espresso and last longer than a Bambino. The only real advantages are the super fast heat up time (which if you do any sort of planning and thinking ahead, doesn't matter) and the milk

Should add the Turin Legato V2/MiiCoffee Apex V2. At this point probably the best option under $600 unless you exclusively make milk drinks and want the auto steam of bambino+.

Since you don’t have a specific goal with the grinder upgrade, I would focus on the machine. You should never spend money when you’re not sure what you want. I will focus on the three key points you mention about the Bambino. You are looking for consistency, especially around temperature, and a larg

I don't know if we talked before but I also was looking around at laboratory grade knobs or reverse threaded micro twist handles for that screw. Right now it's set and forget but cold winter days have me farting around with things I tweek--sharpening razors and knives, tweeking my espresso, grinding

Thank you for this writeup, it really resonates with me as I also think spending an absurd amount of money on a machine is not how "endgame" should work. It should be more based on an individual's needs and preferences rather than community pleasing. I read through the comments here and it seems lik

We had solid reasons to sway our decision. The first was having gift cards that lowered the price to sub-$500. Second, Gemilai is the white label company making the Turin Legato V2/MiiCoffee Apex v2. This feels like the successor to those machines, with an upgrade in features, and those machines are
