New to the hobby. Is my Nad c316bee bottlenecking my monitor audio silver 300?
If you haven't, head over to the NAD website and read the whitepaper on the amp. It uses NADs "power drive", which is really unique. In short: there is more power on tap than NAD reports in their measurements. It is an incredibly beefy amp with plenty of dynamic power on tap - it can hit 170 watts a

So impressed by the Wharfedale Evo 5.1s
It's interesting because I though I wouldn't like the laid back sound profile, but it's become what I prefer and look for. Hours and hours of fatigue-free listening! But I grant they aren't for everyone. I have a pair of Triangle Borea BR04 that I adore as well, but their upper end is more "there" a

PSA: Vintage gear NEEDS repair or WILL NEED repair. Manage expectations.
As Someone who is no kind of a technician, but sold all this “vintage“ stuff back in the 70s, I can tell you no one at that time expected the equipment to last 30 years much less 50 years. Further, the state of the art for low cost hifi by this point is very, very good. Cases in point: Topping dX5 I

Help with turntable present!
Hey, just wanted to say how refreshing it is to see a post like this with a realistic budget! If this is something you think he will be making into a serious hobby, I’d recommend going with an amp and passive speakers- it gives him so many more options in the future. New Speaker Day - Short review of the Triangle Borea BR04's
Both are fantastic and they seem like a match made in heaven. The Wiim Amp Ultra really brings out the bass of the Triangle BR04!

changing speaker advice (from dali oberon 5)
Just not 2/3k euros can mean also it can be more expensive :D If you are looking at cheap, then Triangle BR04 is very well reviewed too. Also, some ELAC and Wharfendales are usually recommended at around 1K.

I bean considering pairing a wiim ultra + a yamaha a-: s700 /s701 /s301
Well, a preamp is a preamp, and a power amp is a power amp. If you combine the two together, you have an integrated amp, like the Yamaha, but the Wiim Ultra is a streaming preamp, you see, so there is no need to duplicate the preamp functionality, which is why a power amp is all you need. Yes, the D
