PSA: Vintage gear NEEDS repair or WILL NEED repair. Manage expectations.

As Someone who is no kind of a technician, but sold all this “vintage“ stuff back in the 70s, I can tell you no one at that time expected the equipment to last 30 years much less 50 years. Further, the state of the art for low cost hifi by this point is very, very good. Cases in point: Topping dX5 I

changing speaker advice (from dali oberon 5)

Just not 2/3k euros can mean also it can be more expensive :D If you are looking at cheap, then Triangle BR04 is very well reviewed too. Also, some ELAC and Wharfendales are usually recommended at around 1K.

New to vintage audio (recommendations)

Great set! Both are beautiful. You must be very happy. I'd complement these with modern transducers. For a cartridge, I'd pick an Ortofon Blue (sold mounted on their headshell). For speakers, I'd consider walnut-finish versions of ... $$$$ Wharfdale Super Linton $$$$ Klipsch Heresy IV (if you have a

Welp. Got some KEF speakers as my first ever set of speakers

Sometimes you have to invest to get rid of the pain, lol! My buddy has (had) a crap system too. He's been helping around with house stuff (particularly a mtb trail

New to the hobby, My SO purchased me a Fluance RT85N (Turntable)- I have ~600 to spend on speakers/receiver - any advice?!

For that receiver I would get the Triangle Br04. It’s a big improvement over the BR03’s as the brightest of the tweeter was reduced. https://www.stevehuffphoto.com/2025/02/26/triangle-borea-br4-speakers-are-incredible-budget-audiophile/?amp=1 You could also look into the Elac Debut 6.3’s as they’re

[US][REC] complete vinyl / CD system ~$2000

I like these recommendations. For the speakers I would suggest the Triangle BR04’s. Don’t go with the cheaper BR03’s as the tweeter has been updated. If you want a subwoofer the RSL 10E gives big bang for the buck.
