Belay device recs
I don’t like the GG either. I own one…and never use it. The Trango Vergo uses a different technique that you need to get used to, but it lead belays really smooth. I think the Vergo is the better ABD compared to the GG, hands down. Gym: MegaJul (my gym only allows 3 devices) Outdoor: Vergo/GigaJul

Belay device recs
Skip Petzl’s products. Better camming products exist (Trango Vergo or Edelrid Pinch), so there’s no reason to consider a grigri family. Similarly, if the goal of the Neox is “tube style” simplicity, get a tube. Many brands offer semi auto locking (same class as Petzl’s products) without moving parts
